A chill in the air

7 Nov

November and December are perhaps my favourite months of the year. Ignoring the horrible cold I have, the icy conditions and the sleet that soaks right through you, it is the most wonderful time of the year. The shops are filled with Christmas goodies, it’s acceptable to have a mince pie and Starbucks is the only place for a toffee nut latte. Fresh Christmas trees line the streets of my market town ready to be purchased and planted and the first blanket of snow can be seen.

November means it’s certainly too cold just for a thin jacket and my beloved snakeskin flats are replaced by riding boots, Wellingtons and every outfit comes with a pair of earmuffs or a bobble hat. Fashion at this time of year is so cosy and warm. Everyone is bundled up, stylish leather gloves and all.

There are so many beautiful items of clothing and darling accessories out at the moment that just make me excited to walk through the snowy lanes of Nottingham. Here are my 7 favourite pieces at the moment- one treat for every day of the week!

Flirting with the 40s

6 Oct

I’m suddenly captivated by 1940s style- the fur stoles, the polkadots and the shocking red lips are all very on trend and very authentically 1940s. My style has become so much more ladylike, especially since I’ve lost nearly 2 stone and a lot of inches (hello, waist) And whilst I think going vintage shopping is wonderful, I’m turning to the High Street to get my perfect 40s look with a little modern update. What era are you loving at the moment?

Boutique by Jager, reduced from £130 to £65, House of Fraser

Plum faux fur stole, £160, Liberty

Sabira shoe, £150, L.K Bennett

Hair rollers, £3.79, Superdrug

Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream, £22.85, HQ Hair

Rouge Dior Lipstick in Favori Red, £22.50, Selfridges

Kate Middleton’s wedding dress?

16 Nov

With the news just announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to marry next year, I’m getting all dreamy about the bridal styling. Do you reckon Kate might see this and hire me as her stylist? I bloody hope so!

So, whilst she’ll no doubt be covered in zillions of diamonds, the soon-to-be princess needs a dress. I mean, if your wedding is going to be shown to millions around the world then you have to look fabulous, right?

I think Kate is really pretty- very girl next door and certainly not too thin. She’d look stunning in this Diane von Furstenberg Delphina bridal gown- simple, beautiful and figure hugging. And a suitably royal price of £2,055 from Net-a-porter.

Congrats, William and Kate!

I’m like a magpie…

21 Oct

Is it OK to start thinking about the Christmas party season? John Lewis have got their Christmas window displays going on, gloating friends are already updating their Facebook status with tales of joy as they’ve already finished their shopping and there’s a flat near me with a glowing Santa in the window.

But forget decorations and presents, every woman knows it’s about finding the perfect outfit to wow that fittie into a snog at office Christmas party. I’ve fallen in love with this sequin number from ASOS Curve. It’s cut-out back is subtly sexy and the sequins mean there’s little need for bling. I’ll be wearing mine with black tights and black suede shoe-boots.

Available in sizes 20-26 and for the price of £85, it’s a gorgeous piece to last you through the party season and beyond.

Colour block dress from F&F at Tesco

7 Jun

I start a new summer job in marketing in a week and our dress code is smart office-wear. Being a student tends to mean dresses, leggings and jeans on a daily basis so I’ve had to do some shopping around for some smart pieces to add to my wardrobe. But, is it me or are a lot of piece limited to greys and blacks and a little big frumpy? I’ve managed to bag some pretty blouses and tea dresses but I still need more.

When ordering my weekly food shop I thought I’d have a peek at Tesco Clothing. I hear the F&F range and this colour block dress doesn’t disappoint. This on-trend dress is not only flattering but it’s the perfect office-to-party piece. Wear during the day with black tights and beautiful heels and jazz up in the evening with tanned legs and a cute clutch.

This dress comes in at only £25- meaning you’ll have enough cash left to buy a round of cocktails in for the girls!

G21 Limited Collection by George at Asda.

17 May

I have to admit that I’m a big George at Asda fan- the prices and the styles (and the catwalk copies!) never fail to slip into my trolley during my weekly shop. When I’d seen that the G21 range had launched a limited collection, I knew I had to feature it. Fashion forward styles including perfect party dresses and festival friendly playsuits make a brilliant addition to anyone’s wardrobe. And with everything priced at £25 and under, how can you resist? Here are my favourites from the collection…

Wear this sequin fringe top tucked into high waist shorts and add a pair of wellies for the perfect Glasto look!

Channel Miu Miu with this fabulous cat print playsuit.

Take inspiration from Kate Moss with this statement star print dress.

Finally, my favourite piece- this waterfall gold dress is bound to get you noticed on nights out and at gigs; just add a stack load of glitter eyeliner and you’re good to go!

The collection is available in sizes 6-20 and can be bought online now.

Dotty P’s paisley print pretty!

28 Apr

Are you all enjoying the sunshine? I know I am and I’m loving being able to wear dresses every day again. My summer wardrobe and sandals have been banished from their hiding place and I’m now into full on bright colours and big sunglasses.

All this sunshine means I’m now looking for some new dresses to add to my S/S ’10 wardrobe for those picnics and summer nights out. I saw this paisley printed dress on sale on the Dorothy Perkins website and loved it! I love paisley print at the best of times but add in the peach and navy colours, as well as the crochet bib detailing and I’m more than won over!

This dress is in the sale from £35 to £20 and, by the looks of it, still available in sizes 6-22. What are you waiting for? Your wardrobe always needs a new dress!

Size 10 or 12? Head over to the Rise Fashion sale now!

19 Apr

I Tweeted about this dress a day or two ago and now I’ve just spied it in dusty pink… I cannot make my mind up which I prefer! Sadly, I can have neither as the navy version is only available in a 10 and size 12 girls can snatch up the pink version.

This dress is perfect for all your summer events – weddings, picnics, dates, barbeques and all things in between! Wear with a big pair of statement earrings, a tan and some silver flat sandals for instant summer chic!

The dress is in the sale reduced from £45 to £22.50- total bargain but be quick, girls, to make sure you get it before it’s gone!
